About the Calculator
Goals of this tool
- Empower park and recreation professionals to demonstrate the value of their parks and park systems
- Support community and decision maker engagement around the importance of parks Provide a simple and impactful communication tool highlighting the benefits of green spaces.
- Increase public awareness of the impact parks and recreation have on a community.
The Production Team
The Project Team worked to form impact specific committees that were invited to connect, participate, and make recommendations in the development of the Parks Impact Calculator. Committees included both CPRS and non-CPRS member representatives with relevant experience to their corresponding committee and were tasked with exploring scholarly articles and research related to parks impact on Property Values, Disaster Response, Environmental Impact, Tourism, and Public Safety. Representatives met to discuss, deliberate, research, and review, and provided data sources for their calculator. Committees worked with the project team in a collaborative process to provide data sources, review the functionality, and support in the messaging and communication of the tool to users.
